Cozy Tabletop Gaming Venue

Welcome to Fortuna Games

This one isn't a comic store. From their website, they are a "boutique trading card and board game store" which seems accurate. The inside is cozy, but still has several tables available for games. They even have a room with a couple of booths and a selection of open board games you can try out, including some really interesting ones like a tabletop version of Dead By Daylight that looked pretty amazing.

There was a surprising crowd for a small store, so I didn't feel comfortable intruding by taking a lot of photos, but I did get this one right in the entryway:

Again, from the website, "The shop is owned by Ashley, Hannah, and Will – partners in business and in life!" Leave your prejudices outside, these are wonderful people.

They are serious about it being a card and board game store. I saw no comics, and only one shelf of TTRPGs - mostly WotC D&D, some Pathfinder, and a small smattering of a couple others, but they certainly had dice. Even my wife almost bought some. We don't play M:tG much anymore, but we picked up a box of Gwent cards, and a neat game called Scorpius Freighter. We also eyeballed a box of Apiary, but put that off again for now.

The shop is tucked right into the adorable residential district up against the north side of Tower Grove park, so if you're in the area you should take advantage, maybe pack a picnic and play whatever new games you buy out under the trees. Parking can be a little tricky - you'll want to pull into Magnolia and just park on the street, but it's such a nice neighborhood that the walk was more a bonus treat than a chore. If you don't want to bring your own, they do have a fridge of drinks and a rack of candy, so you can grab something at a reasonable price to kill the munchies.

Everything about the place had the phrase "Hidden Gem" repeating in my head. Don't show up expecting a parking lot and shelves packed with the latest accessories for Monster of the Week or even GURPS, but if you're a Magic fan, love board games, or just want to grab a pristine Pathfinder rulebook and some neat dice, this is a great place to meet people and maybe hang out with your tribe. They even gave me a pretty nice reusable bag for my purchases, which I'll probably use for small grocery trips to happily advertise for them.

They also have a pretty great Discord community at https://discord.gg/V82q853JHy
Drop in, hang out, ask a few questions. I bet you'll stay. :)
