A Store for TTRPG Gamers

 A Visit to Rogues Rest

It's a bit of a drive from St Louis out to the store in Festus, Mo, but for the record, we did not regret a moment of it.

You might have to drive past and the turn back into the lot, but don't get discouraged. Find a parking spot and stroll on in - the owner is probably there, and he's knowledgeable, charming, and patient with enthusiastic gamers and old raconteurs like Paul ("me" as a fictional D&D character, Paul as the guy who can actually operate the car.)

Unlike most FLGSs, this one isn't mostly geared to M:tG or Pokemon, Comics or board games (though he is planning to start adding some curated board games soon!) This is a TTRPG-focused business, with dice, and a few minor off-topic offerings like some cool logo'd water bottles, but the main stock is game books and paraphernalia.

There are a few gaming tables. The supply is limited, so you might have to pay a nominal fee for the space, but unlike some stores it isn't so loud you can't hear yourself think.

There's significant resources for the hard-core D&D/Pathfinder player, but so much more for anyone interested in other systems. We bought copies of Shadowdark and Daggerheart at pretty good prices, and seriously eyeballed the Cyberpunk and Witcher, Obojima and One Ring... I must admit that Mork Borg wasn't for me, so I passed over Pirate Borg.

They do hold events, which I unfortunately missed last Saturday -

The website leaves a bit to be desired, but they haven't been open long. These things take time and resources, and the community is already supporting some possible upgrades; expect to see this get better soonish.

It's pretty rare to see an all TTRPG game store, so drive a little and support a new member of the community, buy a book or three, and make some new friends.
Maybe we'll see you there.
